Mathews Family Bible

Mathews Family Bible

Cleaning your attic or basement? Do you have Mathews family-related documents, photographs or artifacts that you’d like to see preserved but don’t have the space or desire to keep yourself? We’ve been fortunate to have family members donate items including a family Bible and chairs from the 1830s Mathews family cabin directly to the Clarke County Historical Museum where they are being preserved and can be viewed by the public, a benefit both to local history and family genealogy researchers.

The Josiah and Lucy Mathews Family Bible was a gift by the Mathews descendants in Texas. The chairs from the Mathews log house were donated by cousin Mary Napier.

If you have any such artifacts you’d like to donate, please let us know and we can put you directly in touch with the Clarke County Historical Museum.
